machine and only need to place the fish on a feed ramp going into the machine from a stationary position. During the entire process that occurs inside the machine (when cutting fish), there will
be no employees working in an area where there is risk of cutting themselves with the cutting knife; therefore, if employees follow the correct procedures for both the holding of fish and the operation
of the machine, their chances for a work-related injury in cutting fish will decrease by approximately 90%. In fact, unskilled employees with no formal training will be able to learn how to operate the new
machine properly in fewer than 10 minutes of comprehensive instruction.
As a result of its capability to handle fish without the requirement of pre-processing (such as removing heads or tails), this equipment has the biggest benefit of being able to eliminate the most
time-consuming aspect of fish processing (due to no need for pre-processing). As long as the measurement of the distance from the back to the belly of any fishing species is less than 400 mm, you can
process those fish without having to pre-process them. This measurement includes over 90% of commercially available fish species (including tilapia, salmon, mackerel, cod, and even large catfish) and
is consistent with their value as products.
For a medium-sized processing plant that handles 3 tons of fish per day, utilizing this technology eliminates at least 3 hours of pre-processing time every day, which means that it will immediately
increase processing efficiency by more than 30%.
This equipment also provides several different types of cutting modes to accommodate different production requirements without the need for changing any equipment. For example, in the standard
single-knife mode, this equipment produces traditional butterfly cuts of fish, without completely removing the spine of the fish, which is great for smoked fish or marinated fish production lines.
However, if you switch to the double-knife mode on this equipment, it will produce two equal halves (the same size and shape) of each fish in one pass through the equipment, which is excellent for fish
fillet and frozen fish block production applications. Furthermore, the cutting error that is created during production will be controlled to within two millimetres, providing a yield from the raw material
that is less than 3%. This is significantly better than the average of 15% waste associated with cutting by hand.
The salmon processing facility located in Norway introduced this machine to their facility in the first quarter of 2026. The facility has collected operational data that shows a decrease in the cost of labor
of 40% and that the facility has increased daily production from 2 tons to 5.5 tons since purchasing and installing the machine.
